Penydarren Boys & Girls Club promoted to the Welsh Football League

Penydarren Boys & Girls Club will be playing in the Welsh Football League next season after beating Cardiff Draconians.

Promotion and the League Title was confirmed after they won 2-0 at their The Bont Playing Fields in front of a bumper crowd as they anticipated the clubs title win. It comes after a 25-year wait for promotion to the Welsh League, after finishing second last season.

Kerry Mullins’ men have maintained their unbeaten record, where they have won an impressive 21 games and drawn just twice.

Penydarren still have six games to play but cannot be caught by Cardiff Draconians, Canton Liberal or Ynyshir Albion who have less games to play.

It has been a season to remember for Penydarren who reached the JD Welsh Cup Quarter-Finals, after beating off higher opposition like Pontypridd Town and STM Sports.

They also reached the semi-final of the FAW Trophy, before losing to eventual winners Conwy Borough at Park Avenue. The Pen are in one Cup final however, when they play South Wales Alliance League Division Two side Blaenrhondda who recently won the Division, later this month.
