Bangor rename stadium in new sponsorship deal

JD Welsh Premier League club Bangor City have announced a new sponsorship with Vaughan Sports Management (VSM).

Its Nantporth ground will be known as the VSM Bangor City Football Club stadium, as the company ramps up its sponsorship of the club having been the first team shirt sponsor for the past two seasons.

VSM have also announced a new academy sponsorship deal, with further details set to be released by Bangor in due course.

The VSM Bangor City Football Club stadium has been the club’s home since 2012, and whilst it has seen difficult seasons where the Citizens battled for survival in the bottom six, it hosted the 2017 Europa League play-off final where Bangor sealed a place in the Europa League with a 1-0 victory over Cardiff Met.

The ground frequently hosts Wales’ international youth fixtures and notable fixtures including the 2017 JD Welsh Cup final and Connah’s Quay Nomads’ 1-0 victory over HJK Helsinki in the summer.

The 1,180 seater stadium will officially open under its new name on Tuesday 7 November when Kevin Nicholson’s side welcome Aberystwyth Town as Bangor look to get back to winning ways after a poor run of losses to Barry, Cardiff Met, Prestatyn and Druids.

Bangor are also preparing to hosts Wales’ UEFA Under-21 Championship Qualifying matches this November with Bosnia-Herzegovina and Romania visiting on Friday 10 November and Tuesday 14 November respectively.
