Coyle joins Rhyl from Aberystwyth

Rhyl FC have confirmed the signing of Lewis Coyle from Aberystwyth Town.

Prior to joining Aberystwyth in the summer of 2016, Coyle has had spells at a host of clubs including Chester City, Burscough, St Helens Town, Formby, Ashton Town, Ormskirk Town, Prescot Cables, and Droylsden.

His usual position is centre back, but he has often frequented teams’ attacking line when called upon.

The signing of 6ft 3in Coyle will boost Niall McGuinness’ defence as he prepares to start life in the bottom six for Phase Two of the Dafabet Welsh Premier then.

Coyle will be available for Rhyl’s next game, a highly anticipated derby clash with Caernarfon Town in the JD Welsh Cup live televised fixture.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Niall McGuinness said:

“Lewis is a 6ft 3in centre half who is excellent in the air and is comfortable with the ball at his feet. Lewis is also quick across the ground.

“The great asset that Lewis gives you is that he also can play up front and that is a great utility to have as a manager.

“To date Lewis has done extremely well in friendly matches and his attitude has been second to none and I look forward to working with him.”
