Luke Cooper delighted with 50th appearance landmark in spite of loss to Bala Town

Welsh Premier League

Barry Town United defender Luke Cooper reflected on his 50th appearance for Barry Town United and reflected on his side’s loss to Bala Town on Saturday afternoon.Cooper admitted that he was delighted to pick up his 50th appearance, but the result was more important at Bala Town and unfortunately for Chesterfield’s troops, they suffered a second successive defeat, losing 2-0 at Maes Tegid.

“Obviously naturally delighted for picking up 50th appearances for such a good club in our area, in such a short space of time given I have been here a year and a couple of months.

So yeah I am delighted with my 50th appearance and hopefully I want to get more and more. But its not about my 50th appearance today, it was about the result and the result wasn’t the right one but we’ve got to pick ourselves up and go again.”

However, in spite of the loss, Cooper is confident Barry Town United can respond and get positive results against both Cardiff MET in the Nathaniel MG Cup and Connah’s Quay Nomads in the Welsh Premier League and acknowledged that no games in the league will be easy this season.

“We always try to prepare ourselves right. The club gives us every opportunity to prepare right for games – on Tuesday we’ll go into that needing to bounce back and get a positive result and then we’ll set up ready for Connah’s Quay next Saturday which will be another tough game.

There is no easy games in this league, every game is tough. We are not here to roll over and we want to compete against these good sides and we’ll go again – I wouldn’t write us off to pick up a positive result, either.”
