Pennies bring three to Pen-Y-Pound for end of season run

Welsh League Division 2 side Abergavenny Town have signed three players in the form of Alex Bonthron, Ross Oakley and Tom Rose.

Gwent County duo Alex Bonthron and Tom Rose join from Wattville and Neuadd Wen respectively, whilst Ross Oakley joins from Welsh League leaders Goytre.

Bonthron, who scored 120 goals in 75 games for Wattsville was part of the youth academy at Cardiff and welcoming manager Stephen Morgan described his impact as a ‘wow factor.’

Oakley who can play a number of positions joins from Goytre after a period with his hometown club Caerleon.

Defender Rose already has Welsh League experience with division rivals Aberbargoed Buds and will provide the Pennies with more defensive options towards the tail end of the season.

Abergavenny Town gave a statement on the signing, expressing the delight of the captures.

“We are very excited to bring the lads to the club, we cannot wait to get them out on the pitch so they can show what they’re capable of. It goes without saying that they’ll do nothing but help bolster and enhance the squad, as we head into the back end of the season.”

The three could make their debut away at Newport City this coming Saturday.
